Aretha Franklin to hit KLUB MUK courtesy of Yarra Yukers!

You better THINK! Think! ‘bout whatcha tryin’ to do to me.

Klub MUK, Tuesday 2 October 2018

Well, perhaps you might think about getting involved with our KLUB MUK ukulele open-mic performance for October (Tuesday 2nd Oct)?!  Spring is here.  What better way to shake off the Winter cabin-fever blues?

We want to perform a tribute to the great late Aretha Franklin.

We’ve got five happy weeks to build a ripping effort.

At the open mic each act can perform two songs, so we’re planning to learn…

  1. SAY A LITTLE PRAYER FOR YOU.
    1. Check out http://ukulelehunt.com/blog/ who answered our prayers with a classic video of Aretha Franklin performing this song. (scroll down a few entries to find it).
    2. Attached is a homegrown ukulele sheet for it.  We’ll have to check that the key is right for us.  If not, an alternative is to capo on the second fret to raise the tone a little bit. J
  2. THINK!
    1. A sheet is to come for this one but here’s the classikest video from the Blues Brothers movie to inspire you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGXU7268Z50

Don’t worry if the chords look more than the C, F and G that you might be comfortable with.  There’s parts for everyone and you’ll be surprised what you can achieve in 5 weeks of fun learning!

Remember, we meet every Tuesday 6-7+ish in the old dining room at the Yarra Hotel, 295 Johnston Street, Abbotsford (just a stroll from the Victoria Park station).  $10 for the evening, whether you just stay for the main play or stick around to tinker with some more intermediate picking pieces afterwards.
