Yarra YUkers

YY is the very first ukulele orchestra established by GBU in March 2015.

Yarra YUkers meet upstairs on Tuesdays at the charming and historic Retreat Hotel, in Abbotsford.

The orchestra is preceded by a FREE beginner session from 6-6:30pm, in case you want to check things out first.

Then, from 6:30pm onwards, the Yarra YUker’s ukulele orchestra rehearses.

The Yarra Yukers and sub-groups and individual members perform regularly at KLUB MUK, Melbourne’s monthly ukulele open mic, as well as at various ukulele festivals, including The Hills Ukulele Festival (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022) The Melbourne Ukulele Festival (2015-2022), at local inner north markets, and for the lovely residents of our local nursing homes. To see their faces during our performances indeed “puts a little love in your heart “!

The Retreat Hotel offers their facilities and hospitality to us at no cost so please support our generous hosts by planning to purchase a beverage and/or food when you attend.

For history’s sake, we should note that the Yarra Yukers first performance was on Tuesday 2 June 2015 at KLUB MUK – Melbourne’s monthly ukulele open mic – at 303 High Street, Northcote. We played a ripper version of Robert Palmer’s ‘Addicted to Love‘ and also covered Allan Taylor’s ‘It’s Good To See You‘ with harmonies to die for!
