XMAS GIGS:
For those who like a bit of Christmas Caroling & performing for folks in nursing homes, we have two gigs coming up.
On Tuesday 10 December ~7pm, after a little warm-up at The Retreat, we will do our ‘traditional’ Xmas gig at the Mercy Nursing home in Abbotsford, 5 minutes walk from the pub.
On Saturday afternoon 14 December, a group will do the same set at the Parkville Mercy nursing home.
You can find the booklet with ukulele christmas carols and the set list at the Great Big Ukes MUSIC page
BUSKING:
We are also keen to use the set for a busking group at the Camberwell (Christmas) Market 8th December @ 10am.
FINAL YARRA YUKER SESSIONS FOR 2019
Our December dates for Yarra YUkers are the 3rd, 10th and 17th. On the third we’ll warm up by running through the Xmas set, playing some other recent songs and making space for anyone who wants to perform at KLUB MUK (Melbourne’s month ukulele open mic night) later that evening to perform to us first.
On the 10th, we will have a short warm up then slip over to the Mercy Nursing home to do our Xmas gig.
On the 17th, we have a special dinner meeting where we’ll bring along ideas and songs to share. We’re thinking of the set for MUF in mid March 2020. Then a set for HUF in May 2020. And maybe for other songs we’d like to experiment with, arrange & share next year. Nothing will get set in concrete but we will draw together some direction and some things to practice over the holidays. 😉
I would like to thank everyone who came along to Yarra YUkers throughout 2019. It’s been a terrific group. Special thanks for Kate Grange for her help with social media, Rose Story for her podcasting, market gig organising, singing and wonderful enthusiasm, Janet Hay for her gig finding and all-round vitality, and everyone in the group who have shared songs, new ways to pick riffs, and have thrilled me with their kindness, love of learning and senses of humour.
Speaking of which, we hope you all have a great Summer that is restful and safe and full of refreshing and revitalising music. As one of my favourite sayings go:
May your days be full of laughter and your nights be full of song!
