The Yarra Yukers had a blast at this years Melbourne Ukulele Festival, held in marvelous Melbourne’s ukulele heartland – Northcote.
Saturday 16 March 2019
We kicked off proceedings at 11:45 am in the beautiful Chalice church. As with many chapels, the acoustics in the space are ideal for music. This year, Harry created a joyful new set, based around the theme ‘For Love or Money’, and what a treat it is to play! Our MUF emcee for the day was the charming Hollis.

Some in the group headed up to Bar 303 to listen to, and perform at Klub MUK open mike, hosted by the inimitable Terry McNiff.
Others attended to various workshops, like:- Basics for Beginners, hosted by Helen Begley of Chicks with Picks, Songwriting with Bernard de la Coeur of the Brass Straps, and Formby and Beyond with Cameron Murray of Kamuke.
Open Studio hosted a great selection of singer / songwriters. (Check out the MUF website for the full line up)
Come Saturday evening, MUF took over the bandroom at the Northcote Social Club, with Chrissy on emcee duty.
MUK performed their last ever Transformer show, and have never been more kollective.
Tyrone and Lesley were a massive highlight of the festival, with their unique blend of poetic quirkiness.
Mr Silla then took to the stage.
